Avalokiteshvara Statue

Avalokiteshvara (or Chenrezig), was introduced to Tibet in the 7th Century. He is the Bodhisattva of Infinite compassion also known in China as Kuan-Yin and in Japan as Kannon.

Avalokiteshvara supremely exemplifies the bodhisattva’s resolve to postpone his own buddhahood until he has helped every sentient being on earth achieve liberation.
