Jizo is the Japanese version of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, a Buddhist god worshiped mainly in East Asia. Jizo is one of the most popular Buddhist divinities. He chose to postpone Nirvana in order to help others to awaken. Jizo is especially concerned with taking care of those who are vulnerable including children, expectant mothers, soldiers, farmers and any of those in need of protection. This is a very small statue.
